Title: Domus Diasporica
Commissioner: Sarita Vujković
Curator: Isidora Živković
Exhibitor: Mladen Bundalo
“Domus Diasporica” is a project by interdisciplinary artist Mladen Bundalo. Hosted at Palazzo Malipiero, the exhibition stems from a long-term artistic inquiry into the concept of “home”, treating it as a living entity shaped by history, memory, and contemporary social change.
Bundalo’s work functions as a series of psychogeographical travelogues and auto-ethnographic objects that explore themes of belonging, migration, and the diaspora. Drawing on the artist’s personal experience of growing up during the social and economic collapse of the 1990s in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project reflects on a state of endless transition and cultural disappearance.
The installation also examines the perspective of a migrant artist who has lived in five European countries over the past 15 years. It seeks to understand how memories of a homeland define one’s movement and actions within new living spaces. By blending personal narrative with broader social observation, the project investigates how identity and culture are maintained amid uncertainty and displacement.
