NZƏNDA means “the door” or “the way home” in Medumba, a language of Cameroon.
Conceived by artist and curator Beya Gille Gacha as an immersive work in twelve chapters, Cameroon does not present an exhibition, but transforms its Pavilion at Palazzo Canal into an initiatory matrix, an alchemical temple, whose first agent is sound, its resonance in space, and its effective action on bodies.
From the black volcanic sands of Limbe to the red bark of the tropical forest, weaving in traditional Peul textiles, the installation, unfolding across 400 m², summons therapeutic waves, healing lights, medicinal plants, entity-sculptures, videos, and performative gestures to accompany the aspirant — the visitor — in their realignment of earth, body, heart, and spirit.
The journey connects matriarchy, epigenetics, ecology, and spirituality through a path of transmutation, where each space corresponds to a transitional stage, beginning from an uncomfortable principle: no healing is possible without facing one’s own night.
