Chile 2017

Bernardo Oyarzún and Ticio Escobar are the selected artist and curator to represent Chile at the 57th Venice Biennale.

The exhibition, entitled “Werken“, features  an impressive installation of over 1,500 Mapuche masks, traditionally used in ceremonies, located in the centre of the room. Oyarzún’s work often combines anthropological, social and historical elements in order to present a critique of Chilean culture and society.
