The Croatian Pavilion at the 58th International Art Exhibition features the long-term project by the Croatian artist Igor Grubić (Croatia, 1969). Initiated in 2006, “Traces of Disappearing (In Three Acts)” consists of three inter-related photo essays and an animated film, installed in a special setting. The project begun 13 years ago, when Grubić started to document the transition which the Croatian country was facing after the war, focussing on the shift from socialism to capitalism. The piece on view merges poetry and photographic reportage to tell of the ways in which these events have shaped public and private spaces, urban architecture and even social relationships.
