Egypt 2026
Title: Silence Pavilion: Between the Tangible and the Intangible
Commissioner: Ministero della Cultura Egiziano – Accademia d’Egitto A Roma
Curator/Exhibitor: Armen Agop
Agop’s exhibition proposes art as a space for listening and reflection, rooted in a visual language of silence and permanence developed over three decades. His practice distils form to its meditative essence, focusing on internal energy and the invisible.
The presentation aligns with the Biennale’s curatorial theme, by adopting a conscious artistic position that privileges restraint over spectacle and duration over immediacy. Working with essential elements such as lines and points, Agop creates sculptures and paintings that draw on ancient Egyptian sculptural traditions, where materials like granite symbolise strength and timelessness.
Through this exhibition, the National Pavilion of Egypt presents identity as an accumulation of histories, migrations, and materials rather than a singular statement. Agop’s work seeks to articulate silence, allowing thought and feeling to unfold away from contemporary cycles of urgency. The exhibition reflects a commitment to artists whose work engages with both heritage and contemporary global dialogue, emphasizing a rooted yet international perspective.
