REARMIRRORVIEW, Simulation is Simulation, is Simulation, is Simulation…
Title: “REARMIRRORVIEW, Simulation is Simulation, is Simulation, is Simulation…”
Curator: Margot Norton
Commissioner: Creative Georgia (Ana Riaboshenko, Director)
Artist: Anna K.E.
The Georgian National Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale hosts the exhibition of artist Anna K.E., which gathers the main motifs of her artistic practice including video, sculpture, drawing, performance and installation. The setting of the Pavilion, composed of architectural elements like ascending and descending platforms and many sculptural objects, recalls a matrix of digital pixels. Besides this installation, on view also a compendium of K.E.’s videos and steel faucet-like sculptures inspired by the original Georgian alphabet and spelling the English word “deranged”, something disturbed, irrational or unstable.
Anna K.E.’s practice often involves the study of human body, due to her education in classical ballet; her videos mainly revolve around her own body as mean to investigate connections between corporality and our digital selves.
