The exhibition explores the universe of ancient Maya cultures, focusing on rituals, practices, and a communal identity rooted in a relationship with Qachu Alom (Mother Earth).

The presentation highlights the role of Maya women as custodians of a millenary history, collective memory, and identity. It contrasts Indigenous ways of inhabiting the world with Western systems, emphasizing a relational conception of life that links the living and the dead, humans and nature, and the past and present. This social fabric persists despite historical processes of racial and social exclusion dating back to Spanish colonisation.

The exhibition reflects on the domestic hearth as a sacred centre of creation, where the complementarity of feminine elements (stones) and masculine elements (fire) mirrors the cosmos. The narrative focuses on the daily lives of Maya women and their work with maize. The use of the “comal” (clay griddle) and the “tortear” (shaping of tortillas) are presented as gestures of humble heroism.
