Imaginary Cameras
Title: “Imaginary Cameras”
Curator: Zsuzsanna Szegedy-Maszák
Commissioner: Julia Fabényi
Artist: Tamás Waliczky
New media artist Tamás Waliczky is representing Hungary at 58th International Art Exhibition. In his work, he investigates the ways in which the perception of images has changed with the invention of new picture recording devices. He also considers the roles played by the perspectives of the inventors in this process and the influences these perspectives have on the final versions of the images created by their devices.
The exhibition features 23 fantasy analogue machines – cameras, projectors, viewers – conceived by the artist, which produce alterative renderings of reality and dissolve the opposition between human and computer vision.
