The project comprises artist residencies, workshops, a symposium, and an exhibition produced in the Scuola’s printmaking laboratories. The curatorial framework disclaims the logic of arrival and absence, instead exploring global history through three distinct sections.
“Materials and Metaphors of Disappearance” features works that examine physical processes of fading and erosion, such as erased paintings and corroded objects. These media serve as metaphors for reclaiming collective memory and healing from trauma.
“Suppressed Narratives and Unheard Voices” highlights marginalised or censored stories of individuals and communities through drawings, paintings, and printmaking. This section reactivates narratives that have been silenced or ignored.
“The Reversal of Discovery” proposes an alternative global history through collaborative engraved prints. This sub-theme reframes global achievements in fields such as maritime technology, astronomy, commerce, and law, suggesting a history where Indonesian culture shaped the world without being displaced or stolen.
