The practice of listening that characterizes the exhibition inspires an aid to finding our selves, an essential condition for welcoming others.
Title: Due Qui/To Hear
Commissioner: Piero Cappello, Direttore Generale Creatività Contemporanea, Ministero della Cultura
Curator: Luca Cerizza
Artist: Massimo Bartolini
A large installation and sound work by artist Massimo Bartolini interweaves forms of expression closely connected to Italian national identity with manifestations and symbols that belong to many other cultural traditions, in search of the shared roots from which everything springs.
The practice of listening that characterizes “Due qui / To Hear” inspires the introspection that is an aid to finding our selves, an essential condition for welcoming others.
It offers a new slant on the idea, suggesting that to avoid being foreigners, we must start by not being foreign to ourselves. In this sense, listening tot he self is a crucial way to understand the individual’s position in the world and in all the relationships that one weaves within society.
