Kazakhstan 2022

In the inaugural national pavilion of Kazakhstan, the transdisciplinary collective ORTA set up a full-scale research Centre based on the ideas of the artist, inventor and writer Sergey Kalmykov who died in complete obscurity in Almaty in 1967, but who inspired generations of contemporary artists in the region. Until 20 May ORTA holds regular services and special performances – “Spectacular Experiments” – at the Pavilion twice daily. After the initial period, the Centre exists as an immersive audio-visual installation, with lights, texts and music continuing to operate in order to excite visitors’ Inner Genius. In November ORTA returns to Venice, to open a Portal to the Fourth Dimension for the conclusion of the Biennale Arte 2022.
