Korea 2025
The pavilion looks back at its 30-year history while inviting reflections on the future of architecture.
Title: Little Toad, Little Toad: Unbuilding Pavilion
Commissioner: Arts Council Korea
Curators: CAC (Dahyoung Chung, Heejung Kim, Sungkyu Jung)
Exhibitors: Hyunjong Kim (Atelier KHJ), Heechan Park (Studio Heech), Yena Young (Plastique Fantastique), Dammy Lee (Flora and Fauna)
The title of the exhibition comes from a Korean folk song that alternates the words ‘old home’ and ‘new home’, reflecting a cycle of architectural renewal. The pavilion celebrates its 30th anniversary with an exploration of its unique history and architecture. Built with strict constraints to preserve existing trees and topography, the pavilion shows an architectural approach rooted in respect for nature, embodying architectural values of transparency, lightness, and mobility—qualities often associated with the future of architecture itself.
