Montenegro 2025
The exhibition offers a thought-provoking perspective on the evolving relationship between humans, nature, and intelligent systems.
Title: Terram intelligere: Interstitium
Commissioner: Mirjana Đurišić
Curator: Miljana Zeković
Exhibitors: Ivan Šuković, Dejan Todorović, Emir Šehanović
Blending art, science, and architecture, the exhibition invites to see nature not just as resource but as an interconnected system that contains traces of past wisdom to be reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The exhibition showcases Montenegrin landscapes that are awe-inspiring and reveals how the earth has long facilitated the symbiotic relationship between the organic and the artificial, the innate and the introduced.
Throughout the six-month duration of the Architecture Biennale, the pavilion will host a laboratory where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of developing microprocesses of bacterial cultures isolated from soil samples collected across Montenegro. These processes will be realised in a floating polycarbonate laboratory installed in the pavilion. Their products – BIO pigments and intriguing spatial constellations formed by the development of these cultures – serve as a direct replacement for the hazardous components derived from petrochemical processes and heavy metals currently in use, offering sustainable solutions for the future of ecology, architecture, and construction.
