Montenegro is represented at the 56th International Art Exhibition by the project Ti ricordi Sjec ́ aš li se You Remember by the Montenegrin artist Aleksandar Duravcevic.
Based on the pseudodocumentation of memory recreated afresh, the project offers both the means and the opportunity to recount—through an individual and escapist immersion into the past of his family—the story of the extensive Montenegrin tradition, of its oral narratives and histories big and small. It becomes a simulacrum of history—fragments of the past collected informally and unbound by the taste for precision, set up on the stage of life as an exceptional theater of memory. Ti ricordi Sjec ́ aš li se You Remember is an attempt to dis/locate the capital of mnemographic writings in a defined historical and evocative context, inside the amplitude of personal mind migra-tions and the specific migrations of mentality.Renouncing limitations of the conventional exhibition models, the artwork is materialized as a combination of installation, drawing, and video, used by the artist to enhance the explicit, seman-tic-symbolic narrative of the work with the choice of its methods of execution.A nomad inside the interactive and cognitive dialogues of being, the artist moves across the plane of vulnerability dominated by allusive seizures of spirit, always on the verge of stepping into memory in order to change tracks and establish a different order of departures and arrivals, acutely aware of the infinite absence/presence of an immutable, stubbornly disorienting reality.Ti ricordi Sjec ́ aš li se You Remember skillfully articulates the un-rests of tangled memories, and with a flickering clarity of waiting wants to grasp and understand, forgive and bestow a new yet simultaneously very old narrative of looks.
