In response to ‘How will we live together?’, Het Nieuwe Instituut presents “Who is We?” together with architect Afaina de Jong and artist Debra Solomon.
The project questions dominant narratives and urban structures by confronting them with an urbanism that is female, indigenous, of colour, queer, and multispecies. Many of today’s ecological, urban, and social urgencies have resulted from systems based on prevailing hegemonies and were materialised through design. Who is We? advocates design values that acknowledge the plurality of humans and more-than-humans to create a more just urban environment. Who is We? includes talks, research projects, and discussions, both live and online.
