Playground: Artefacts for interaction
Title: Playground: Artefacts for Interaction
Commmissioner: José Orrego
Curator: Felipe Ferrer
The project removed gates and fences from public spaces from many cities in Perú, to transform them into artifacts inviting people to interact. These ‘security’ elements-cum-segregation devices have been turned into benches, playground games, soccer goals, and so forth; in an effort to re-channel all of the time, energy and money expended into building barriers by breathing new meaning and life into their wrought materials. As soon as the visitors walk into the pavilion, they find a large, typical street-gate of a Latin American city that crosses the space from side to side, with some dissuasive signs such as STOP, NO TRESPASSING or entry schedules mounted on it.
