Portugal 2025
The exhibition questions the paradoxical paradise of contemporaneity, where evolution and inequality collide.
Title: Paraíso, hoje
Commissioner: Américo Rodrigues, Direção-Geral das Artes
Curators/Exhibitors: Paula Melâneo, Pedro Bandeira and Luca Martinucci; Catarina Raposo, Nuno Cera
The exhibition responds to the Biennale Architettura 2025 theme by reflecting on architecture’s role in shaping both territory and cultural landscapes through an immersive installation and an Atlas of Images. The installation, a sensory experience blending technology, architecture, and art, highlights the interdependence between landscape and collective identity. The Atlas offers a critical yet hopeful analysis of Portugal’s territory, addressing themes like urban pressures, demographic decline, and ecological concerns, collecting diverse perspectives on the concept of paradise.
The project questions the paradox of contemporary prosperity amid inequality and environmental challenges, urging reflection on architecture’s role—both complicit and transformative—in shaping a sustainable future.
