Hosted in Palazzo Mora, the Seychelles National Pavilion offers an insight into the richness and distinctive character of the country’s contemporary art scene. Among its featured artists is Egbert Marday, a pioneering figure in contemporary Seychellois art. Working across wood carving, sculpture and painting, Marday draws inspiration from the tropical landscape and the materials that surround him. His practice reflects an intimate relationship between nature, personal identity and artistic expression, transforming natural elements, particularly wood, into powerful vehicles for memory, experience and self-discovery. Through his organic and deeply personal approach, Marday contributes to a contemporary artistic narrative that reflects the cultural and environmental heritage of Seychelles.
