In “Seeing Forest,” Singaporean artist Robert Zhao offers an evocative exploration into the hidden narratives of secondary forests, born from deforested land due to human activities. Drawing from years of observation, Zhao’s installation unravels the complex interplay between human urban design and the reemerging ecosystems. Exploring traces of human presence in debris and wildlife, the exhibit showcases the intertwined histories of settlement, colonization, migration, and coexistence within these overlooked spaces. Through video works and sculptures, it invites viewers to ponder the impact of urban planning on nature, revealing the intricate connections at the frontier of city and forest.
