50 emerging artists for Venice Time Case
From October 28 to November 26, the Tommaso Calabro art gallery will host “Venice Time Case”, the first stage of a project on the journey of images curated by Luca Massimo Barbero.
Five Fly Case suitcases will transport to the gallery fifty works created for the occasion by five emerging contemporary artists who are active in the Venetian area.
The selected artists were invited to create a work of art that could fit into one of the five suitcases made especially for the occasion. The artworks were all conceived in the same size, medium and exhibited for the first time in a physical format.
The project comes from the curator’s need to investigate some familiar areas such as Venice, Mestre, and especially Marghera, locations where art is born and grows away from the spotlight. The aim is to awaken people’s curiosity towards new emerging artists and new spaces for artistic creation.
After this first exhibition of the collective body of artwork, the cases and pieces will travel around Europe and be acquired by contemporary art museums.
Venice Time Case is a moving ‘place’ where artists who work together in groups, in shared studios, with collective or isolated experiences can meet and come together. It is an idea that was born to make people talk in an international context about the ‘hidden vitality of art in the great city between land and sea’.
