Art Basel Miami Beach 2024
Art Basel Miami Beach is back, marking a significant moment under the new leadership of Bridget Finn. This year’s edition hosts 286 premier galleries from 38 countries and territories, showcasing the best of their programmes and setting the stage for an inspiring celebration of art.
This year, the fair introduces a revitalised artistic programme, welcoming the largest number of new exhibitors in over a decade. It also features innovative curators and exhibition concepts, promising a must-attend event for art professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Exhibitors presents an impressive range of works, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, films, new media, and editioned pieces. These spans the fair’s six curated sectors:
Galleries: the main sector, featuring over 200 Modern, postwar, and contemporary art dealers from across the Americas and beyond, presenting the breadth of their programmes.
Kabinett: a space where selected Galleries present thematic exhibitions in a dedicated section of their booths.
Nova: a dynamic platform for emerging galleries to showcase the work by up to three artists, created within the last three years.
Positions: this section offers presentations by emerging galleries and artists, proposing fresh perspectives and voices in contemporary art.
Survey: a sector focusing on historically significant works created before the year 2000, broadening the understanding of art history.
Meridians: curated for monumental artworks that go beyond the confines of a traditional booth, this sector celebrates large-scale projects. Reimagined for its fifth anniversary, the Meridians sector, a hallmark of the fair since its introduction in 2019, is now curated by Yasmil Raymond. This year’s programme features 17 expansive projects by prominent artists from the Americas and beyond. Highlights include works by Alice Aycock, Rachel Feinstein, Roberto Huarcaya, Zhu Jinshi, Portia Munson, José Parlá, Lee ShinJa, and Franz West.
