Art Historian and Critic Gillo Dorfles Died at 107

Born in Trieste in 1910, Gillo Dorfles died today at the age of 107 in his home in Milan.

A professor of Aesthetics at the Universities of Milan, Cagliari and Trieste, in 1948 he founded, together with Atanasio Soldati, Galliano Mazzon, Gianni Monnet and Bruno Munari, il Movimento per l’arte concreta, of which he contributed to clarify the positions through a prolific production of articles, essays and artistic posters. Throughout the 50s he took part in numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Just a year ago, on January 13th, he had his own exhibition of paintings at the Triennale in Milan where he showcased fifteen new canvases made in 2017.
