Art Jameel is due to open a temporary Project Space in March 2017 in Alserkal Avenue. This will be a satellite location for Art Jameel which is planning to open a new venue at the end of 2018, offering a year-round programme of exhibitions, workshops and events.

Vilma Jurkute, Director, Alserkal Avenue said: “We are looking forward to welcoming Art Jameel to Alserkal Avenue. Their presence in the Avenue is evidence of the growing not-for-profit initiatives within the arts and culture sector, and providing the infrastructure for a holistic art scene has been part of Alserkal Avenue’s mandate.”

The official opening of Art Jameel Project Space is on 9 March, with an exhibition by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme titled “And yet my mask is powerful I”.

“Art Jameel is embarking on an exciting new phase in its development, and we’re delighted to mark this with the opening of a Project Space in Alserkal Avenue, who I’d like to thank for their support,” said Antonia Carver, director of Art Jameel. “The Space will draw on the foundation’s broad mandate across the arts, heritage and education, with a bespoke programme that embraces debate, experimentation and exchange.”
