Arte Fiera celebrates its 40th year

Arte Fiera 2016 will be a special edition since it marks the 40th year of this fair. The organizers intend for this to be a very special show, unlike the others. That’s why they have decided to give an even greater importance to the major feature of Arte Fiera: modern Italian art from the first avant-garde movements of the 20th century through to today.

In recent years the art produced in Italy has achieved wide international acknowledgement by museums and auction houses, and is widely acclaimed on the cultural scene and by the art market. In parallel, the Bologna Fair has played a major role over these last forty years, promoting the art produced in our country.

A similar thematic stamp will be given to the overall curatorial approach that has marked Arte Fiera since 2014 and led to several new tradeshow features like, for example, the Photography Section and Focus East, and subsequently in 2015, the section called “Leading Players”. Just as Lorenzo Paini assisted us during the last edition in the choice of four historic galleries to show works testifying to their role down the years as pioneers, so too in 2016 two other collectors will give their own personal indications as to gallery owners who have done much to further modern and contemporary art in Italy.

Once again Bologna Art City will be scheduling a broad programme of events and exhibitions in town during the days of the tradeshow, culminating in Art White Night on Saturday, January 30.
