Athens Biennale 2020 to open in September

The seventh edition of the Athens Biennale will take place from September 25 to November 29, 2020, in several venues throughout the city, curated by Omsk Social Club and Larry Ossei-Mensah, and under the artistic direction of Poka-Yio. The chosen title “ECLIPSE” highlights the obscure perspective on reality induced by the constant developments faced by current society. The event will address contemporary social, political and spiritual changes both from a global point of view and in Athens in particular.
The rising metropolis stands out geographically and historically for its location on a crossroads between three continents, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Therefore, a multicultural approach will be adopted, featuring exhibitions by artists based in North and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Europe, many of whom will be exhibiting in the country for the first time. A special focus will be dedicated to artists from the African Diaspora or whose practices have been forced in peripherical conditions.
The complete list of exhibitors will be announced in the summer of 2020.
