Domaine du Muy Welcomes New Sculpture Works

This year, Domaine du Muy contemporary sculpture park, situated in the South of France between St-Tropez and Nice, welcomes new works by Dan Colen, Wang Du, Gabriel Kuri, Dan Graham, Francisco Sobrino, and Claude Parent. In addition to these, a redesigned and expanded trail with new routes has been inaugurated in the 2016 season.

At the heart of the park, a faux Provençal-style house has been redesigned by French architect and designer India Mahdavi, while the surrounding gardens — which were structured and planted by landscape architect Louis Benech — are now fully developed. The house’s ground floor atelier will host an artist in residence from next year and will also display the works created on site by the artist.

According to Domaine du Muy, the new works by Francisco Sobrino, Dan Graham, and Claude Parent establish a relationship with their surroundings, enhancing the link between the architecture and the countryside. Sam Durant’s works create an interplay between the man-made and the forces of nature, while Liam Gillick’s greyhound and Wang Du’s elephant introduce an animal presence.
