In response to the tragic events which happened last week in the USA. A Man Was Lynched By Police Yesterday, the flag installation by Dread Scott, has been installed two days ago outside Jack Shainman’s gallery. The artwork is an updated version of the flag that was hung at the NYC offices of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People back in 1936.

The work is now part of the “For Freedoms exhibition currently on view in the gallery’s spaces on West 20th Street. For Freedoms uses art to inspire deeper political engagement in the 2016 USA presidential election. It’s a collaboration between Hank Willis Thomas, Eric Gottesman, Wyatt Gallery, Joeonna Bellorado-Samuels, Michelle Woo, and Albert James Ignacio.
