Fondation Beyeler, Basel Announces its 2017 Program

On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the Fondation Beyler is going to host a special exhibitions program devoted to modern and contemporary art, including three shows of Claude Monet, Wolfgang Tillmans and Paul Klee. The program aims to engage visitors, collectors, artists and art lovers to the foundation permanent collection.

In addition to this, the Foundation celebrates its anniversary with three different exhibitions with works from its collection: one featuring the topic of the past ( Ernst Beyeler and his collection), the second related to the present ( The artists and the collection) and the third focusing on the future (Collectors and the collection).

Running from January 22nd to May 28th 2017, the retrospective on the French Impressionist artist Claude Monet focuses on light and color, showcasing the artistic development of the painter from the early career to the late works. This major exhibition presents over 50 masterpieces both from private collections and museums such as Musée d’Orsay, the Met, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Opening on May 28th and running through October 1st, the exhibition with works by Wolfgang Tillmans presents photographs representing the artist life in the context of his studio, a place where he spends most of his time. Also on view, paintings, prints, video and sounds experiments by the artist inventiveness.
The German artist, renowned for his photographs which became popular during the 1990s, has been considered the one who was able to represent the youth culture.

The master of abstraction Paul Klee will be explored through the third exhibition inaugurating on October 1st in the spaces of Beyeler Foundation. The artworks represent the major themes analysed by the artist during his career: nature, architecture, music. The retrospective features more than 100works and which will bring together artworks coming from all over the world.
