Frieze Fairs in London this October maybe combined, smaller and reconfigured – if able to go ahead
The organisers of Frieze London have sent a letter to its exhibitors stating that if able to go ahead with its Frieze London and Frieze Masters fairs in early October, they will both be smaller, with fewer visitors and may also be under the same tent for the first time. Frieze has asked galleries to confirm their participation at the two fairs by next Friday 26 June, and underlines that they will be fully refunded should it be forced to cancel.
The letter, signed by Frieze Fairs’ global director Victoria Siddall, artistic director Nathan Clements-Gillespie and deputy director Romilly Stebbings voices to its exhibitors that: “Significant changes will need to be made to the fairs to reflect the times we are in. Therefore, before we ask you to re-commit to the fairs, we wanted to outline what these measures will most likely entail.”
The fair will likely be reduced in size and it is probable that both Frieze London and Frieze Masters will take place under the same tent, at the Frieze London site. Fewer visitors will be permitted to avoid overcrowding, priority will given to the exhibitor invitees and and timed entry will be put in place.
