Glitches by Servane Mary: The first contemporary art exhibition in San Carlo church, Cremona
For the reopening of the deconsecrated San Carlo church in Cremona, the artist Servane Mary has created a specific body of work, consisting of three paintings – monumental in scale – which fits perfectly with the architecture and volumes of the space.
Servane Mary create her works using laminated plywood sheets as support and CMYK range of colors as a palette, she paint on what may look like a grid full of “glitches”, and thanks to measured and controlled gestures awake in the viewer’s memory the restless gestures of the Action Painters.
This exhibition kicks off the San Carlo art project, which aims to connect contemporary art, the surrounding area, and the local community by opening a dialogue between these different parties and reviving a municipal space that is truly important for the historical heritage of the Cremona inhabitants.
