Hauser & Wirth to occupy former Dia:Chelsea building in New York City

Hauser & Wirth will occupy the former Dia:Chelsea building as a temporary downtown location in New York City, while constructing our future permanent home on the site next door. 548 West 22nd Street is a beautiful masonry structure that hosted Dia Art Foundation’s exhibitions from 1987 to 2004.  Hauser & Wirth will stage its exhibitions in the birthplace of the West Chelsea arts scene, and it will offer the opportunity to work in a building that is so loved internationally as a landmark of contemporary art history. The first show at this location will open in late fall 2016 and the team will continue to present exhibitions there through 2018; in early 2017, Hauser & Wirth will move all of the downtown activities over from Hauser & Wirth’s current temporary space at 511 West 18th Street.
