Jeff Koons Donates Artwork to the City of Paris
Bouquet of Tulips will be installed outside Palais de Tokyo in the French capital. It will be installed in 2017 and it will be in memory of the victims of the 2015 terrorists’ attacks.
“The capital of France will be happy to welcome the iconic work Bouquet of Tulips, which is intended to become part of Paris heritage, as the Statue of Liberty is part of the New York’s heritage,” stated Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.
“Bouquet of Tulips was created as a symbol of remembrance, optimism, and healing in moving forward from the horrific events that occurred in Paris one year ago” Jeff Koons said. “I wanted to make a gesture of friendship between the people of the United States and France.”
The work will be 10 meters high and it represents a human hand holding a bunch of tulips. It has been funded by private American and French donors and it will cost 3,2 million USD.
