Jeff Koons’ Pluto and Proserpina should stay in Florence
According to plans, Jeff Koons‘ Pluto and Proserpina is meant to be removed on the 28th of December 2015 from Piazza della Signoria in Florence.
However, the Italian magazine Artribune has published a request – without starting a petition- to Dario Nardelli, major of Florence, in order to suggest that the statue should stay installed in the square.
The reason for the suggestions is supported by the statement “Jeff Koons is one of the most classical post-war artists; his installation in Piazza della Signoria is not provocative in any way but talks about the classical era in a more than classical way. The presence of the installation is useful to understand concepts such as developement and evolution that are not estranged to contemporary art”.
