Lily McMenamy: A Hole is a Hole

Model and theatre maker Lily McMenamy, presents “A Hole is a Hole”, a striking debut performance that delves into the construction of a female performer as a metamorphosing and multiplying vessel. McMenamy, far from the stereotype of “model and actress”, holds a diploma in physical theatre from L’École Jacques Lecoq and a Masters in Performance Making from Goldsmiths, University of London. In this performance, she throws the relations between artist and model, monster and maker, into a blender, challenging who is subject to our aesthetic and erotic drives. This piece is part of her ongoing research at London Performance Studios, focusing on mime and the female grotesque, leading toward a production in 2025 that explores new techniques for writing, devising, and performing within the intersection of visual and theatrical art discourses.
