Łukasz Twarkowski: The Employees

Directed by Łukasz Twarkowski, a visionary artist making his London debut at the Southbank Centre, the play is an adaptation of Olga Ravn’s dystopian sci-fi novel, “The Employees”, a 2021 International Booker Prize nominee.

Set aboard the 6000 Spaceship, a vessel exploring the New Discovered, a distant planet, the story unfolds in a future where Earth has been destroyed. Humans and humanoid robots coexist on the ship, grappling with complex questions of consciousness and identity. The narrative is told through fragmented crew reports, creating a haunting exploration of human desires and artificial life.

Blending theatre, film, and installation, this visually striking production captivates with its intense storytelling and powerful performances. Performed in Polish with English subtitles, it is supported by the Polish Cultural Institute, London, and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
