Due to the present COVID-19 crisis, the Director of Manifesta Hedwig Fijen, together with Manifesta 13 Marseille’s Board members, announced the postponement of the Biennial’s 13th edition, along with its pre-biennial programme. The announcement came yesterday, following the current global situation and the French 15-day-long lockdown and closure of national borders ruled by the French National Government.

The European Nomadic Biennial began in 1990 as a response to the spirit of political, social and economic renovation after the Cold War. Conceived by the Dutch art historian Hedwig Fijen, since its beginning, the nomadic event has been aimed to create a platform of exchange and integration between different artistic communities. The 13th edition, originally due to take place from June 7 – December 1, 2020, under the title “Traits d’union.s., in various venues around Marseille, will unveil new forms of living together in current society.

The entire team of Manifesta 13 is currently collaborating with all its stakeholders to be able to announce new dates around mid-April 2020.
