MoMA To Reopen on August 27th with free access for the first month made possible by UNIQLO

The Museum of Modern Art in New York will reopen with limited capacity on August 27th, and admission will be free to all visitors until September 27th thanks to the support of UNIQLO.

MoMA will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays for members only, and entry will require timed-entry tickets.Tickets must be reserved online and will not be available at the Museum. Tickets will be released in one-week blocks, with the first batch available on August 21st. Members get priority access.

“We have been carefully preparing for the reopening of The Museum of Modern Art for months, to ensure the safe return of our staff and visitors, and we are ready to welcome everyone back to our recently expanded and reimagined museum,” MoMA director Glenn Lowry said in a statement.

 

New York governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that New York’s major art institutions are allowed to open on August 24th, subject to restrictions. The Whitney also plans to begin previews on the 27th, opening to the general public September 3rd. The American Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Jewish Heritage will open on September 9th.
