My Art Guide Mexico City 2026
We are delighted to announce that the Editorial Committee for the 2026 printed edition of My Art Guide Mexico City includes Carolina Alvarez-Mathies, Senior Director of Institutional Relations at OMR and Artistic Director of LagoAlgo; Laura Cortés Hesselbach, Director of SOMA; and José Kuri, Founder and Owner of kurimanzutto.
My Art Guide Mexico City will provide a comprehensive overview of Art Week, which runs from 2 to 9 February 2026. Our locally based editorial committee has selected all the must-see exhibitions, major galleries, and key art spaces. They have also curated recommendations on where to dine and stay in Mexico City.
Carolina Alvarez-Mathies is a cultural strategist and producer working across contemporary art, design, and public engagement. She is Senior Director of Institutional Relations at OMR and Artistic Director of LagoAlgo, its cultural centre in Chapultepec Park, where she develops exhibitions and cross-sector initiatives connecting Mexico with the international creative community. Previously, she served as Executive Director of Dallas Contemporary and held leadership roles at Creative Time and El Museo del Barrio.
Laura Cortés Hesselbach is the Director of SOMA in Mexico City, a role she has held since 2019, overseeing the institution’s strategic vision, academic programmes, and international collaborations. With over a decade of experience in contemporary art and cultural management, she has collaborated extensively with artists, curators, and educators to shape public programmes, residencies, and pedagogical initiatives, strengthening collaborative practices, educational engagement, and cultural exchange.
José Kuri is the founder and owner, together with Mónica Manzutto, of kurimanzutto, established in Mexico City in 1999 and expanded to New York in 2018. Conceived with artist Gabriel Orozco, the gallery pioneered a flexible, experimental model that has played a key role in supporting Mexican and international contemporary art. Today, kurimanzutto represents a diverse roster of artists and maintains an active presence in Mexico City and New York.
