Outernet Arts is a new project to be set in London at the Now Building, in Denmark Street, few steps away from the Tottenham Court Road subway station. The project consists of a never-before-seen and immersive public programme, part of a plan to reevaluate this urban area. The experiential media space will be dedicated to commissioning and exhibiting artworks by globally-renown and emerging international artists. The works will be displayed on the world’s largest high-resolution wrap-around screens, embracing new media and cinematic technology to produce multi-sensory experiences.

“The Outernet Arts programme has, at its core, a desire to create an intimacy between the viewer and the artist while presenting work on an unprecedented scale using state-of-the-art technology. Our programme is about accessibility and inclusiveness, and I think the life-like aspect of the video screens will connect with our collective imagination in a very powerful way. Whilst in the space, you will not feel you are viewing a screen but looking deep into a portal and another reality.” Said Marco Brambilla, Artist Director of Outernet Arts.

Among the announced artists in the programme, Marina Abramović will perform inside the Now Building, surrounded by visuals from her first original opera, “The Seven Deaths of Maria Callas”, just after her dedicated exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts. Moreover, Berndnaut Smilde will present an extension of his iconic “Nimbus” photography series to create a giant cloud inside the building, premiering in 2021; Sarah Morris, Damien Jalet and Marco Brambilla, Outernet Arts’ Artistic Director and video artist, will be also part of the programme.

The programme is set to premiere in fall 2021, to transform the space into an iconic venue, following in the steps of Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall.
