April 21, 2021

Situated within the heart of the Jewish quarter in Venice, 18th century Venetian Palazzo Manfrin will be the home of the new Anish Kapoor Art Foundation conceived to host a permanent collection with his most notable artworks as well as accommodate more temporary exhibitions.

The project space will accommodate impressive large scale works developed by the artist whilst it also aims to establish the site as a cultural hub for the city of Venice.

The restoration of the palace is commissioned to architects Giulia Foscari ed Antonio Foscari, from the studio Fwr (Venice) and UNA (Hamburg). The 5000 sqm space will feature a gallery, a bookshop and workshop and educational spaces; the first and second floor will host the most relevant works by the artist, while the artist-studio and archive and artworks will be located on other floors.

Mayor Luigi Brugnaro stated: “This will be a new creative hub for young and emerging artist, a real culture centre aimed at establishing a close collaboration with other major venetian cultural institutions, university and research organizations.”
