Shanghai Art Week 2021
While China closes again borders, Shanghai opens the Art Week with a new boutique fair Design Miami/Podium x Shanghai (4-14 November), and a rescheduled Photofairs Shanghai (3-6 November) running alongside the main art fairs Art021 and West Bund Art & Design Fair (both 11-14 November). All Chinese collectors that can’t fly overseas will be attending the art events in town this week. The eighth edition of West Bund Art & Design returns with 120+ exhibitors from 45 cities across 18 countries. In addition to the main sectors galleries and design, the highly anticipated eighth edition of the fair features special sectors – xiàn chǎng, Video AI PLAZA, Perspective, and West Bund Voice.
Among the exhibitions you shouldn’t miss in town are “John Hejduk: Shanghai Masque” at the Power Station of Art presenting a unique case in 20th-century architecture history. John Hejduk (1929-2000) was not only a distinguished architect, educator, and historian, but also an artist and poet. Li Ming at Antenna Art Space, Alessandro Teoldi at Capsule Shanghai, Shi Yong’s solo exhibition, “Turning Inward, Until Disappearing” at ShanghART Gallery and Tang Dixin at Aike Gallery.
