The OGR in Turin reopen to the public with a whole new programme between art, science and technology
The OGR Torino return to their artistic and cultural vocation after the lockdown, during which the structure was also used as a hospital. They reopen their doors to the public in a new guise on the weekend of October 10-11, with a programme based on the contamination of art, science and technology.
Two concurrent events will welcome back the visitors: first, the opening of the exhibition “Unseen Stars”, by Trevor Paglen, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa with Valentina Lacinio. A series of satellites designed in collaboration with the NASA aerospatial engineers will be on view until January 10, 2021. Then the “Continuum” programme, a ten-hour event of online and offline exhibitions, talks, performances, and music to celebrate the third anniversary of OGR and reinforce their identity as a cultural pole open to different audiences.
Moreover, from the reopening on, the entrance to all the exhibitions will be free.
A lot of new international partnerships have also been activated, such as the one with the British Council or the Tramway in Glasgow, also a former industrial space dedicated to visual and performative arts. As a result of this collaboration, a selection of videos will be screened at the same time in the two locations.
Video and performative arts will be the centre of the cultural programme, with unique presentations, such as the one by artist Wong Ping and the return of the “OGR SoundSystem” project, born from the collaboration with the Club To Club Festival.
For the occasion, also OGR’s website renews, with more immersive experiences, including three-dimensional tours and augmented-reality reproductions.
