From June 15th to August 2nd White Cube presents the online exhibition ‘I Thrive on Solitude’, dedicated to Tracey Emin’s most recent works.

During a period of isolation in her London home, the artist has made a series of works offering insight into her time during lockdown, for Emin these intimate paintings and drawings represent a ‘transference of emotions and place’.  After twenty years living in the same house, the artist is also about to part ways with it. The memories and her sense of belonging, alongside feelings of expectation and excitement unite in these works. Emin refers to the works as a ‘thumbprint of my time being here’.

The title points us to the notion that in solitude, there is the opportunity to think, recollect and dream. For Emin, these works mark a transition into an optimistic future, where to flourish and grow.

In November of this year a major solo exhibition entitled ‘The Loneliness of the Soul’, is set to open at the Royal Academy in London. The exhibition will tour to the Munch Museum in Oslo in spring 2021, followed by the unveiling of The Mother, her permanent public commission for Oslo’s Museum Island.
