Una Boccata d’Arte 2025

The sixth edition of Una Boccata d’Arte runs from 28 June to 28 September 2025 and continues to establish itself as the only contemporary art project in Italy operating nationwide. Conceived by Marina Nissim, President of Fondazione Elpis, in 2020, the project creates a cultural itinerary that crosses the country from North to South and East to West, connecting small towns, local communities, and contemporary art.

Each year, 20 artists from different countries, cultures, and linguistic backgrounds are invited to develop site-specific interventions in towns with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. Artists spend time in residence on the territory, exploring vernacular traditions, local craftsmanship, and pre-existing energies, and creating works that actively involve local communities in inclusive and participatory ways.

A network of curators mediates these interactions, supporting dialogue between artists, local administrations, and residents. The 2025 edition brings together interventions by Hetty Laycock in Ollomont (AO), Bibi Manavi in Borgolavezzaro (NO), Jim C. Nedd in Framura (SP), Aiko Shimotsuma in Brunate (CO), Stefano Caimi in Luserna (TN), Giacomo Gerboni in Tarzo (TV), Babau in Cormons (GO), Vica Pacheco in Bagnara di Romagna (RA), Stella Rochetich in Pratovecchio Stia (AR), Qeu Meparishvili in Citerna (PG), Giuseppe Abate in Altidona (FM), Gabriele Ermini in Oriolo Romano (VT), Adele Dipasquale in Roccacaramanico (PE), Roberto Casti in Macchiagodena (IS), Tild Greene in Lustra (SA), Aymen Mbarki in Sammichele di Bari (BA), Vaste Programme in Miglionico (MT), Anna Ill in Simeri Crichi (CZ), Nicola Martini in Custonaci (TP), and Sara Persico in Burcei (SU).

Over the first five editions, the project realizes 100 site-specific works across Italy, leaving a tangible mark in the territories through permanent acquisitions, such as works by Claudia Losi, Agnese Spolverini, Ludovica Carbotta, Victor Fotso Nyie, Invernomuto, Mohsen Baghernejad Moghanjooghi, Nicola Baratto & Yiannis Mouravas, Giulio Locatelli, and Emanuele Marullo. These works form a year-round cultural itinerary, bridging past editions with the present.

Una Boccata d’Arte combines the vision of Marina Nissim with the support of Maurizio Rigillo (Galleria Continua) and Threes, which curates sound-based interventions. The project highlights the historical, cultural, and landscape heritage of small towns while fostering new collective memories, participation, and dialogue across Italy.
