The Video Sound Art Festival supports young creative talents through the contamination of different practices, including visual arts, video and filmmaking, music, sound art, and performance. Always set in peculiar locations, this year the festival celebrates its tenth anniversary: for the occasion, it will open at the Milanese pools Piscina Romano and Piscina Cozzi.

The two settings recall the 2020 Festival’s title “The Reflecting Pool”, referring the element of water and its reflection, and the questions raised by video artist Bill Viola’s namesake work from 1977, such as the relationship between man and nature, the power of images, water as an initiatory element.

The programme of the festival consists of three exhibitions, the first of which to open on next September 16, 2020, at Piscina Giulio Romano, on view through October 1. This will be the first Italian presentation by Chilean Enrique Ramirez, telling the story of his journey through the salt desert in Bolivia.

The second event will take place from October 16 – November 16 at Piscina Cozzi, featuring paintings by Italian Giulio Frigo, accompanied by a performance by the collective Sentieri Selvaggi.

The last appointment (November 23 – December 3) will be the final exhibition of the winners of the Video Sound Art Festival’s 2020 open call: in collaboration with the Italian Touring Club, young artists are invited to create unprecedented narrations using the institution’s archival materials.
