VideoArt Week 2019: the MAXXI museum, Rome showcases cutting edge video artworks

The 2019 edition is curated by Damiana Leoni and Lorena Stamo and brings together foreign academies, private foundations, and contemporary art galleries for a nine-day programme of events. Following the success of the last edition, this year the festival features artworks by more than 80 artists, including talents such as Gianfranco Baruchello, Will Benedict, Will Benedict & Steffen Jorgensen, Elina Brotherus, Melissa Durbin, among the others.

The MAXXI Museum hosts the main programme of screenings and meetings, engaging the public with professionals such as Sophie Lauwers, Head of Exhibitions, BOZAR, Brussels, Alessandra Mammì, art historian and journalist, Rome, Vittoria Matarrese, Director of Performing Arts, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Director of MAXXI Arte, Rome, Davide Quadrio curator and art producer Arthub Shangai/Hong Kong.

The KIZART section, curated by Raffaella Frascarelli for Nomas Foundation, dedicates a specific screening programme to younger audiences, to connect them with contemporary art.

Besides the main programme, a wide array of events by foreign academies, and site-specific projects conceived by contemporary art galleries takes place in the city over the nine days of the festival.
