With the group exhibition “L’altro, lo stesso” curated by Beatrice Merz and Agata Polizzi: L’altro, lo stesso, open to the public from Tuesday 26 October 2021 to Sunday 27 March 2022, Fondazione Merz’s ZACentrale cultural project is born in Palermo.

The ZACentrale presents itself as a host venue for a rich programme of temporary exhibitions accompanying the permanent installations, concerts, theatre, and dance performances, but that’s not all: there will also be free educational activities at various levels, with the participation of protagonists of Sicilian, national and international cultural life, public talks in collaboration with the other realities of the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, and documentaries.

The ZACentrale will launch “terredicoltura“: an incubator and observatory of young artists in the Mediterranean area understood as the geographical and historical area that runs from Italy through the Balkans and Anatolia to the Maghreb countries through the complex historical and political events of the Middle East and the Nile delta. The aim is to create a fluid and open network in Palermo that connects young and old artists.

In addition, the TALEA library will be opened and will make available to the public over 300 volumes donated by the Merz Foundation, to enrich the archive and leave it available to the community beyond the project’s timeframe (2021-2023).
