Inaugurated yesterday, the new exhibition by Zheng Bo (b.1974, China) “Life is hard. Why do we make it so easy?” takes its name from the famous TED talk by Jon Jandai “Life is easy. Why do we make it so hard?”.  The artist chose to distort Jandai’s original statement to denounce how human beings are making life on earth easier for them at the expense of other species.

Bo’s exhibition aims to be an invitation to live in harmony with other species and nature in general in light of the current climate and ecological crisis.

First presented at Thailand Biennale Krabi in 2018, the exhibition is now on view at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), where the artist worked with resident ecologist Dr. Stephan Gale to create a botanical installation. The work features the slogan in the exhibition’s title recreated through a selection of local orchid species. Preparatory sketches and materials for the installation and information about orchid conservation are also on display.

The exhibition will be open until April 25, 2021.

In light of the latest COVID-19 situation, the exhibition date is subject to change. Please, check the website before the visit.
