Munira Al Sayegh

Munira Al Sayegh holds an undergraduate degree from University of London’s School of African and Oriental Studies in History of Art and Archaeology. Upon Al Sayegh’s return into the United Arab Emirates, she worked with New York University Abu Dhabi as an assistant producer on the FIND project in 2012. From that she continued on, as co-curator of Art Dubai Projects 2014, assistant curator of Emirati Expressions 2015, and curator of Bayn: the in-between, the third edition of U.A.E Unlimited 2017. Al Sayegh was one of the curators who worked on the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi exhibition The Creative Act: Performance, Process, Presence 2017.

Alongside this she worked on the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi project as a programmes officer from 2015-2017 and curated the Abu Dhabi Art talks program in 2017. In 2019 Al Sayegh curated the Residents section part of Art Dubai and UAE NOW. During this time she was also a lead tutor and curator for Campus Art Dubai. Al Sayegh sits on the advisory council board of the NYUAD gallery. As an independent curator, she has participated in various panels and lectures which point at the importance of none institutional thinking and rhetoric in order to refine the voice of what local and regional art looks like, from the bottom up. Al Sayegh has published various articles on the contemporary art scene of the region.
