Alois Kronschlaeger

Alois Kronschlaeger, born in Grieskirchen, Austria, in 1966, now lives and works between Brooklyn, New York, and Mexico City.

Alois Kronschlaeger is internationally recognised for his site-specific installations and sculptures, which reflect a sustained interest in environment, light, and the exploration of time and space through geometry. Positioned at the intersection of art and architecture, his work embraces abstraction and employs simple materials in a lineage that recalls figures such as Frederick Kiesler and Buckminster Fuller.

Kronschlaeger’s work has been presented in numerous international institutions and festivals, including the Figge Art Museum (Iowa), the Bruce Museum of Arts and Sciences (Connecticut), Yuan Art Museum (Beijing), MOCA Tucson (Arizona), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima (Peru), and the Islamic Arts Festival (Sharjah, United Arab Emirates), among others.

Since 2011, he has completed several large-scale public installations in the United States, as well as multiple site-specific projects in Mexico City (2015–2022) and one in Sarasota, Florida. His solo exhibition “TIME, SPACE, COLOR” was presented at Roldan Moderno in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

A notable public project, “Hybrid Structures”, comprised a series of interconnected ramps and platforms spanning a deconsecrated church campus. In 2017, the project received the “Best of Show” award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Kronschlaeger is represented by Cristin Tierney Gallery (New York), Roldan Moderno (Buenos Aires), Mark Hachem (Paris and Lebanon), and Now: Gallery (Lima, Peru).
